Thursday, August 29, 2013

Good morning, good morning.  I want to introduce you guys to an amazing blogger, Megan, who I recently discovered and am so glad that I did.  Megan blogs about her life as a wife and mom in Denver...and let me tell you, seeing her Colorado life sometimes makes me miss Utah..like a lot!  There is nothing that compares to living in the gorgeous mountains.  Luckily I can visit whenever I want!

You guys probably know about Ross and I meeting in Vegas, but I always love hearing other love stories and how couples came together and found each other!  Megan is sharing her story for us today...and I love it!!  Head over to 5280 Running Mommy and check her out :)

Take it away girl!!

Hello everyone! My name is Megan and I blog over at 5280 Running Mommy. I write about my life as a Mommy and my running/weight loss adventures in the beautiful mile high city!

I am so excited that Jess has asked me to guest post for her while she’s busy moving. I cannot even imagine! I moved from Utah to Colorado in 2010 and it was so stressful. I would not recommend a wedding and moving to another state all in one weekend!

Anyway, Jess said I could write whatever I wanted and since it was four years ago this month that I was matched with my husband on eHarmony, I chose our love story!

Late August in 2009 I signed up with eHarmony. I figured if a man was going to pay that kind of money to connect with someone, then they were probably pretty serious about it. Not long after I signed up, I was matched up with a guy named Ryan who lived in Colorado. I was excited to be matched with him, but I thought, No way am I moving to Colorado! I looked at his profile and thought, 'Oh, he's cute. He'd never go for me.' But I decided to send him a "wink" anyway. I sent one that said, "I love your smile" because I did, and that was one of the first things that attracted me to him.

I emailed back and forth with Ryan a few times but it was sporadic and it seemed that it took a long time in between emails. I thought maybe he wasn't interested. I did not want to go too fast, so we stuck with email for the first little while. He knew up front that I had a child and he was so respectful of me and my role as a Mother. He would ask me about her in his emails, and knew that she was the most important thing in my life.

In September, after exchanging emails with Ryan, I finally gave him my number. After that, we texted a little bit and one night around 8:30pm I sent him a picture I had just taken on my phone. A few minutes later, he called me. I got so nervous and flustered! I didn't want to answer on the first call, so I just let it go to voicemail. When I listened to his voicemail, I got really excited because he sounded cute!

I called him back around 9pm , and we talked until................5:00 AM. We talked for eight hours straight! We finally fell asleep while still on the phone with each other. We talked about anything and everything. We laughed and didn't hold anything back. It was AMAZING. I felt a connection with him right away. I was SO tired the next day, but I was literally on cloud 9, so I didn't care.

I found out that the reason his emails were sporadic was because he is SO SLOW at typing (picture one finger pecking on the keyboard), and it took him awhile to get them typed out! Especially since I wrote a lot and he tried to write a lot back! He was definitely interested though.

It was probably 2 weeks later that he told me he loved me, and for the first time in my life, I was in love too! I knew from the tip of my toes to the top of my head that I loved him and for the first time, I was able to say it without hesitation.

On October 15th 2009, we met face to face for the first time. He flew into Utah and we spent the weekend getting to know each other and spending time together. The weekend was a little awkward, I'm not going to lie, but as awkward as it was, it solidified my feelings for him.

We took turns going to see each other in our home state just about every other month. I went to Colorado in February, right before Valentine's Day. I knew he was going to propose that weekend, but I didn't know when. I figured he would wait until Valentine's Day (which was Sunday and it was Friday).

He picked me up from the airport and we went back to his place. We had dinner, watched a movie and then he excused himself for a minute. Hours later, he said, "Why don't we go back to my room?" I thought, 'Weird. OK, well I'm not really tired.' It was super late, but I was too excited to see him and so happy to be there. We walked back to his room and I saw candles lit all over the room and rose petals all over his bed. I thought he was so sweet for doing this for my first night there! We sat down on the bed and he kissed me and then got up quickly and grabbed something on his dresser. He came back over and got on his knee and said, "Megan, will you marry me?" I threw my hands over my face and said, "Yes! I will!" Then we hugged and hugged. It was dark in the room so I didn't get a look at the ring, so later I went to the bathroom so I could take it off and examine it thoroughly! He did very well, and picked the perfect ring for me.

We talked about setting a date right away. We didn't want a long engagement, because the long distance thing was hard. I wanted to wait until autumn because that is my favorite time of year, but Ryan did not want to wait that long. My biggest reason was because I DID NOT want to get married in the summer. I hate being hot, and I'm not particularly fond of that time of year, so I always said I would never get married in the summer. Yeah, right. Never say never. Ryan was so adamant about getting married as soon as possible, because it was so hard to be away from each other. I agreed, so we planned a wedding and a move from Utah to Colorado in 5 months and were married on July 16th.

Our wedding day was the most amazing day ever. Even with the heat. We were married in the church I grew up going to and we had our reception there too, so the only time we were really outside was to take pictures. I loved it, and would not have changed a single thing.

Thank you so much Jess for the opportunity to share our love story! I wish you luck with your move!

Have a great day everyone!
