Getting to know the South

Thursday, May 23, 2013

On Saturday I will unfortunately be turning 26.  It feels extremely bittersweet to me...saying bye to my "early twenties" and edging much closer to my "late twenties".  I really don't have too much to show for it either...I mean obviously I am getting married and doing that whole thing...but we don't own a house or thankfully have any kids or have our dream jobs yet.  But I am starting to realized that really is okay.  Everyone has a different timeline and we just haven't figured ours out yet.  I am definitely in no rush either!!

This weekend I don't have any set plans yet, so I am trying to research and find out what fun stuff is going on.  We have thrown around a few ideas...like walking around Asheville or Charlotte for the day, going hiking, or just relaxing with the puppies.  Nothing set in stone yet...but hopefully we will find something fun!

Here are some of the things that we can choose from though...

Greenville
Aloft Festival - Friday May 24 through Monday May 27
Hot air balloon festival with a few different concerts

Asheville
Ooh La La Curiosity Market - Saturday May 25
Downtown market and festival

Biltmore Blooms - all Spring

Charlotte

Speed Street 600 Festival - Friday May 24 and Saturday May 25

Charlotte Beer Festival - Saturday June 1

Any of you southern ladies know of fun stuff happening around town?!

  1. If you like moonshine the Plum Hollow Festival is this weekend ;)

For real though, I've heard that Aloft is great. I've never had a chance to go but it should be fun.

  3. The hot air balloon festival used to be in Anderson (where I grew up) and we went every year. I'm not sure what it's like since it moved to Simpsonville, but it used to be a good time!

But the Biltmore is seriously so awesome! I'm sure you saw my post about our trip, but you should really check it out! The winery is fun too!

  4. So glad you found my blog too! I love all of things you have listed, but our favorite is downtown Asheville. You could do downtown asheville first, then go to the Biltmore and end with a trip the winery it is amazing! Following your blog now, I love meeting local bloggers! :)

  5. All of those things sound like they would be a TON of fun. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those choices. It kinda makes me want to move closer to N. GA.
