Did you just PEE?!

Yesterday, something happened to me that I never could have imagined in a million years.  The story went like this...

I drive home from work after a long day and decide to stop and pick up some necessary items at the store.

I get home, hurry inside and let my two wild animals out back to do their business.  Normal afternoon, right?

After letting them back into the house, I head back out to the car to start carrying some things inside.  I packed up my office yesterday so I had a huge box and then some grocery bags, jackets from my car, etc.  It took me a few trips to get everything up onto the porch and then I opened the front door to start getting the stuff inside.  Penny was standing there at the door waiting, but Seamus was no where in sight.  And that's when I heard a noise.

Sounded like a lot of water running, which immediately threw me into a panic.  I yelled for Seamus, ran through the house and ended up in my bedroom.  The scream that came from inside me easily could have been heard 3 streets away.  What I saw when I entered the room was the most horrifying thing that has ever happened in my house.  There he was, my full grown, 2 year old, house trained dog...standing right in the center of my queen sized bed, peeing.

Landing in a puddle right on my comforter and running right through my sheets and into my soft, fluffy, pillow-top mattress.

Needless to say, Seamus spent the majority of the evening in his cage while Ross and I scrubbed and vacuumed and disinfected our mattress.  Then we got to sleep on the couch all night, which was obviously an enjoyable situation.

I am trying to stay positive since the mattress wasn't ruined and I get to buy a pretty new comforter...but I am so angry with him.  I don't get why they do the things they do sometimes.  We think he is nervous with all of the boxes around for the move, but he is a fully trained dog who never does stuff like this.  I can't even remember the last time he peed in the house at all.  Ugh, being a dog owner can definitely be frustrating!!

Free doggy...any takers?

  1. Our pup is a serial comforter pee-er! We can only let him in our bedroom and on the bed if we know he's just gone out, otherwise we end up washing the comforter at 11 pm at night! He's about to turn two, and he's gotten much better about this over the past 6-8 months, but up until that point it happened way more than it should have! Fortunately for us, our pup is about 14 lbs and doesn't hold very much in his bladder!

  3. i feeeeeeel you. Lil did that a few times. but she hasn't in a long time now. we have one of those waterproof covers that go over the mattress but under all the sheets. It's literally saved our bed countless times!

  4. Ohhh Seamus! Hawkeye hasn't done that, probably because she thinks the bed is hers and wouldn't want to ruin it. But one time, a blanket off the couch fell on the floor. At some point during the day, she pooped and hid it in the blanket like I wouldn't find it. It was so traumatizing, I picked up the blanket and poo chucks went flying.

  6. Ohhh man, do I know what you mean. My 7 year old, fully trained lab hiked his leg in my parent's house and stared at me while doing it. I'M SORRY WHAT.

    You're definitely not alone.

  7. Oh no! He must be trying to tell you he is nervous or unhappy about something. I am sure the boxes made him anxious!
