Merry Christmas Eve :)

Monday, December 24, 2012

I leave for my trip tomorrow and will be taking the week off from blogging!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and very happy New Year!

Saturday night Ross and I went out for a "Christmas dinner" to a great restaurant in downtown Greenville called Sobys'!  We had a fantastic time and the food was to die for.  I was feeling a little under the weather but the bottle of wine definitely helped me perk up :)

Yesterday I made some delicious salsa chicken in my crock pot.  You take 3 chicken breasts and cut them into cubes, with one jar of Pineapple Newman's Own salsa and let it cook on low for 5 hours.  Of course I forgot to take a picture of the end result...but let me tell you, it's AMAZING.  Put it with some white rice and you have an easy, great dinner!

Little Seamus also got a bath yesterday. And today it rained. So he got another one.
Which is obviously exhausting for him...

And then I saw this.  Facebook is seriously taunting me.  We miss Utah too much.

See ya in 2013!

I'm a bad blogger :(

Friday, December 21, 2012

I'm sorry for being MIA this week!  I had the wildest week at work and have been going nonstop!  I am finally now on vacation and can breathe for the next few days before I head to Boston!  I fly out on Christmas day and will be there until Jan 1.  The blog will definitely be neglected while I am gone, but I will return with lots of pictures to capture the debauchery of the week.

I have some venue tours scheduled for the week as well as two dress appointments!  I am SO excited to try wedding dresses on for the first time!  And maybe I will even find a venue.  We booked our trip to Vegas so we are really hoping to nail a location down by mid-March!!

So sad to leave him for the holidays! :(

My little guy hurt his paw yesterday so he was feeling very sad.

First day of vacation cuddle-sesh

Finally Friday

Friday, December 14, 2012

I am extremely thankful that today is Friday.  Even though it would be better if it was 5pm already...but I guess it will be soon enough.  Yesterday was officially the worst day I have had in this stupid state as of yet.  I am so over it.  I want to be home in MA already...back with friends and family and normal city living.  Living here officially sucks.  We have no friends, hate our jobs and have no money to even do fun things.  All of that adds up to this place completely sucking.  Everyone our age here is either already married or has/is trying to have kids.  The idea of having a kid makes me very uncomfortable...I am lucky if Seamus gets dinner, let alone a child.  I need the city...I need the buildings and the ocean and the train and the bars and dancing and friends and culture.  This place is NOT cutting it.  I need to go home.

Enjoy your weekend..

Wedding Weds..errr Thursday?

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Yesterday I skipped Wedding Wednesday since I was in such a stupor I could barely function.  So today is going to be Wedding THURSDAY!  I haven't actually made any progress in the wedding department, besides contacting some photogs for engagement pics.  Instead of talking about the actual wedding I think I will let you in on a little bit about me...the story of how Ross and I met!  Buckle up.

Back in April of 2010 four of my friends and I decided to take a ladies trip to Vegas for some fun.  At the same time, Ross and his friend Tom were on a two week camping trip through southern Utah...and were ending that trip with two nights in Vegas.  The day we arrived it was surprisingly chilly so we checked into Treasure Island and headed down to the hot tub.  There were a few randos there..and one creep who kept rubbing my friends feet, but we got cocktails and made it work.  Then two guys walked in...one was very attractive and the other was wearing a Yankees hat.  Being the single lady I was I told my friends I wanted to talk to the "lookah".  I approached the Yankee and began to harrass him for his hat.  He told me his friend and I would get along..**my in!**...and Ross and I began talking.  They joined us in the hot tub and we drank with them for a while before deciding we needed to go eat and get ready to party.  We exchanged room numbers and invited them to come drink with us later on.

A few hours later, one of my friends suggested we call them and invite them up.  I called down to their room and told them that we were drinking.  They came up and I strategically placed him right next to me.  Here's our first photo ever..of that exact moment.

Ross and I got fed up with how long everyone was taking to get ready so we decided to go out on our own.  Yea...I know...really safe decision.  Whatever, I was young :)

We went to the bar and since I still had no idea what his name was I asked to "see his license picture".  Sneaky!!

Then we went and found our friends...

And danced way too much..

The next day...we spent the entire day drinking and dancing at the pool.  And then...they had to leave.  And he didn't ask for my number.  And for like .5736 seconds I felt really sad.  But then my vacation continued and I forgot and we went back to Boston and that was that.  Or so I thought...

A few days later when I was going through my camera pictures and seeing the absurd things that I documented, I decided that I should look him up on facebook and show him all of the pictures.  I remembered his first name...and luckily for me he has his last name tattooed down his side...easy!  I found him in about 2 seconds and added him as a friend.  Innocent.  About an hour later he sent me a message with his phone number appologizing for not getting mine in Vegas and telling me he really wanted to keep in touch with me.  We have spoken every day since.

This all happened at the end of April 2010.  I made my first trip out to Utah on July 12, 2010 and then my second trip on August 21, 2010.  On September 8, 2010 I moved to Utah to live with Ross.

DMB Concert!

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Last night we drove down to Duluth, GA to see Dave Matthews!  We had a BLAST...made fools of ourselves by dancing and singing like freaks and now have no voices and are completely exhausted.  But it was all worth it!  Definitely a successful Tuesday night :)

Here is my outfit...should have thought about the pants thing a bit more since it was only 40 degrees out while we were tailgating!!
And sorry my backyard is gross...

The cold weather forced us into the car for our "tailgating".  Like my crazy eyes?

Our great view!  This might have been when Zac Brown showed up!!

Sweaty & crazy..

I am linking up with Shanna today!  Head over and say hi!

Happy Hump Day!!

Boring Weekend Recap

Monday, December 10, 2012

This weekend was full of relaxing and Christmas errands.  Friday night we decided to go out for some dinner and drinks.  Happy hour was still going on so we relaxed for a while and enjoyed a night out..which we don't get very often!

Saturday we were scheduled to go to Charleston to look at some wedding venues but at the last minute decided that we actually don't want to get married there...so we cancelled them all and hung out with our handsome little guy at home instead!

Sunday Ross always works so I braved the mall for some Christmas shopping, picked up my new glasses and finally found a NYE dress that I love!  Only took purchasing three dresses...oops.

I cannot believe I am actually posting this...so horrible.

Yayy New Years!!  I figured this dress would also work well for Vegas!

Happy Monday!
xoxo, Jess

Fab Friday

Friday, December 7, 2012

Another week of 2012 down.  We are edging closer and closer to my trip home and I couldn't be more excited!  I am actually flying on Christmas Day which is a first for me..but here's to hoping the airport is way less crowded?  It is going to be a busy two weeks until my break starts but I cannot wait!  While I'm there I also am touring some wedding venues with my mom and have my first two dress appointments!

In other news, Ross and I also decided to book a trip to Vegas last night!  We are considering it for the wedding (since we met there) so we figured we better go out and look at some locations...and rage :)

I also have had a few things happen this week that really pushed me to my breaking point and got me feeling very down about some people.  It is really hard to not lash out when someone makes you mad or does something that really makes you ask "WTF?!"  But a few months back my dad sent me a quote from Warren Buffet that really resonated with me...

"You don't want to make important decisions in anger... You can always tell a man to go to hell tomorrow, if it turns out to be such a good idea."

Some days you just have to put your big kid pants on and let the other person look like the jerk.

And after that Dr. Phil moment I am heading out into my weekend.

Enjoy!!
xoxo, Jess

Wedding Wednesday

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

This week's Wedding Wednesday is similar to last week, but really focuses in on what Ross and I are stuggling with right now.  Location.

We have a small(-ish) budget and are really struggling to find any spots that will fit into this budget but still have the things that we want.  Our top priorities are:
1. Proximity to a hotel for guests
2. Packaged bar rates (our friends drink toooo much for us to afford an on-consumption bar!)
3. Some sort of meaning to our lives
4. NO ballrooms!

We have some appointments in Charleston this Saturday to see a few venues and then I have started booking some appointments for when I am home in Massachusetts in a few weeks, so we are hoping to have narrowed it down within the next few months.

Another topic that we have now started discussing is wedding party.  We both have agreed on four bridesmaids and groomsmen and now are getting ready for the fun part...figuring out how to ask them!  Ross is a guy so for him it isn't too difficult, but I am trying to think of a creative and meaningful way to ask my lady friends!  I am going to ask three of them when I am home for the holidays, but one I won't be able to see during that trip unfortunately.  I have been thinking of sending flowers, maybe buying them matching necklaces, or even doing framed photos of us with a funny "Top Ten Reasons You Should Be In My Wedding" list..but haven't been able to decide!  Any suggestions?!

Today I am linking up with Shanna at Because Shanna Said So and a new link up...Wedding Wednesday!

Make sure to check them both out!!

Happy Hump Day!

Weekend Recap

Monday, December 3, 2012

Ew..it's Monday.  I do have a Christmas luncheon thing at work today though..which will break up the total boring-ness of my day.  Ross and I started doing two-a-days which is making it really hard for me to walk...but these damn lbs haven't been dropping like I want so I guess I better start taking drastic measures.

We got our Christmas tree this weekend!  And unfortunately for me...I finally had to suck it up and get glasses.  I have been suffering with mild blindess and horrifying headaches for monthsssss now so when I went to the eye doctor Friday he said giddy up girl and get some specs.  So..yea, I got me some sweet bifocals on Saturday, what what!

This week is boring...but a week from tomorrow is DMB IN ATL...so god help me this week better fly by.

Our pretty tree!

I am not impressed.

My handsome baby!

OBSESSED....Essie "beyond cozy"

Happy Monday!!
